The Grevenbroich cartilage cherry is a red-colored variety of sweet cherries belonging to the cartilage cherries .

origin

The variety was bred by the Grevenbroich cherry breeder Dietrich Uhlhorn before 1900 .

fruit

The fruit is medium-sized, blunt-heart-shaped to broadly rounded, sometimes built tall, flattened above and below, making the fruit appear rectangular. The skin is dark yellow with a bright red, shiny covering color, when fully ripe it is almost completely red. The pulp is light yellow, very firm and gristly, aromatic and moderately juicy. It bursts easily. The stone is medium-sized, oval, asymmetrical, with hooks on the handle side. The stem is medium length about 4 cm and green, sometimes reddened on the sun, the stem base is medium to large. It ripens in the 6th to 8th cherry week, which follows. The fruits have a long shelf life.

The tree is somewhat susceptible to monilia and grows vigorously, with sloping, outwardly upwardly directed leading branches. The crown is spherical to spherical with medium dense branching. It is self-sterile and needs a fertilization partner. It flowers mid-early with few, slightly reddish leaves.
