Greycourt

Greycourt , also Graycourt , formerly Courtallan , is a villa in the Scottish town of Helensburgh . The building is on West Dhuhill Drive in the north of the city. In 1993 the villa was included in the Scottish Monuments List in the highest category A.

Greycourt is being built by J. R. Caldwell . In ancient records, the name of the property is given as Courtallan . As an architect, A. N. Paterson was responsible for the planning. The building was completed in 1911.

Greycourt is a two-story structure that has an L-shaped floor plan. Stylistically, it shows characteristics of the Arts and Crafts movement , but also Renaissance motifs from the 17th century. The facades are plastered using the traditional Harling technique. Sandstone decorations can be found on the ground floor. The windows are usually decorated with wooden frames. The asymmetrical building ends with a gray, slate-covered roof.
