Gribov Medal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gribov Medal has been awarded every two years since 2001 for work in theoretical elementary particle physics or quantum field theory by the European Physical Society . It is awarded to younger physicists (age under 35) and is named after Wladimir Naumowitsch Gribow .

Award winners

  • 2001 Steven Gubser for his outstanding research, which uncovered deep connections between gauge theories and gravitation in the context of string theory and which made it possible to obtain interesting properties of gauge theories in 3 plus 1 dimensions from calculations of gravity theories in 4 plus 1 dimensions .
  • 2003 Nima Arkani-Hamed for original approaches to hierarchy problems of the theory of fundamental interactions of elementary particles, especially for the investigation of the possibility of large extra dimensions in which gravity can spread .
  • 2005 Matias Zaldarriaga for his important theoretical contributions to cosmology with effects on the theories of fundamental interactions. Among other things: Development of an efficient method of calculating the CMB fluctuations in given cosmological models, the knowledge of the importance of the polarization in the CMB and the possibility of its measurement and highlighting the importance of gravitational lensing effects due to local masses on the CMB .
  • 2007 Niklas Beisert for contributions to the investigation of the integrability properties of four-dimensional gauge field theories (N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory).
  • 2009 Freddy Cachazo for important contributions in the simplification of the calculation of scattering amplitudes in gauge field theories as well as in gravitational field theories .
  • 2011 Davide Gaiotto for uncovering new facets of the dynamics of four-dimensional supersymmetric gauge field theories and specifically for discovering a large class of four-dimensional superconformal theories and for discovering important intricate relationships between two-dimensional theories of gravity and four-dimensional gauge field theories .
  • 2013 Zohar Komargodski for his deep insights into the structure of the renormalization group for field theories in four dimensions and especially for his proof of the a-theorem with Adam Schwimmer .
  • 2015 Pedro G. Vieira for his fundamental contributions to the determination of the exact spectrum of the anomalous dimensions N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories and scattering amplitudes for each interaction strength
  • 2017 Simon Caron-Huot for his fundamental contributions to the understanding of the analytical structure of scattering amplitudes and their connection with Wilson loops .
  • 2019 Douglas Stanford for his work on quantum chaos and its relationship to dynamics near the horizon of black holes .
