history

The company was founded in 1882 by Anton Griesser. He took over a mill construction workshop in Aadorf and manufactured roller shutters there. The good business development with the first export orders enabled him to expand the factory around 1900. In 1911 the sole proprietorship was converted into a stock corporation. In 1920 Griesser opened its first branch in Zurich , which was followed by more than a dozen more in Switzerland over the years. In 1924 the company opened a production plant in Italy and four years later one in France.

After the first flexible venetian blinds were introduced in 1949, the invention of the folding roller shutter (Rolpac) followed in the 1970s, for which the company received an innovation award at the international Batimat construction fair in Paris in 1975 . At the same time Griesser took over the electronics company Multronic AG (today Griesser Electronic AG ) based in Dübendorf for the development and manufacture of control systems. In 1991, Griesser Holding took over the majority of the German awning manufacturer Weinor, which was founded in 1960, with its two plants in Cologne and Möckern .
