The Grimmener SV is a sports club from Grimmen, founded in 1992, with point match teams in the field of football and volleyball .

The Grimmen sports club was created in its current form as the successor to the three municipal soccer clubs BSG Einheit Grimmen , BSG Bau Grimmen and BSG Erdöl-Erdgas Grimmen . In 2012 the club had over 250 members. In the soccer section, three men's teams and seven junior teams take part in the game. The soccer venue has been Jahnplatz in the Grimmen Sports Forum since 1957.

The BSG Erdöl / Erdgas Grimmen did not play a significant role in GDR football during its 40-year existence . Only between 1988 and 1992 did she play in the Rostock district league . A sporting achievement that the city's second club, BSG Bau Grimmen, achieved for five years in a row between 1979 and 1984. The most successful of the three predecessor teams of the Grimmen sports club, however, was the BSG unit Grimmen. Between 1958 and 1979 she was able to hold her own for a total of eight years in one of the third highest division in the GDR, the Rostock district league. The highlight of this "golden seventies" was the participation of the BSG unit Grimmen in the 1st main round of the FDGB Cup in the 1978/1979 season.
Club developments since the re-establishment
Even after the political change, the football department remained the strongest section of the club. Nine teams are in league play. Since their promotion in the 2009/2010 season, the first men's team played ten years without interruption in the state's top division, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Association League . Although athletically entitled to do so, in May 2020 the club decided not to participate again in the association league from the 2020/2021 season. The game operation should instead be continued in the seventh-class regional league. While the team was still wearing the jersey colors of BSG Erdöl / Erdgas (black-yellow) in the 1990s, the club's colors in recent years (red-white) are more reminiscent of the team colors of BSG Bau Grimmen.

- Champion of the Landesliga Ost and promotion to the Association League Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the 2009/2010 season.
- Player Thomas Boljahn was the top scorer in the association league MV in the 2014/2015 season with 27 goals.
