Grinderswitch was an American southern rock band . They recorded some albums for Capricorn Records in the 1970s, but never achieved the same reputation as other artists on the label, such as The Allman Brothers Band and the Marshall Tucker Band . They also recorded for Atlantic . In the UK they are probably best known for their song "Pickin 'the Blues", which was used for many years by DJ John Peel as the theme music for his BBC radio broadcasts.
