Names and history

In the English-speaking world, the Grinner knot is known as Uni Knot or Duncan Loop - after its inventor Norman Duncan. The Grinner knot became popular after a publication in the Miami Herald in the 1960s.

application

With a grinner knot you can attach the fishing line to fish hooks, rings or eyelets, you can also attach the fishing line to the reel. Two fishing lines can be connected with two grinner knots. A grinner knot can be used to connect the backing or leader to a fly line.

particularities

If the Grinner knot is tied to wobblers, flies or other artificial baits with the loop not yet fully tightened, these baits can wag back and forth and appear livelier than with a fixed installation. The loop tightens under heavy load. This can be an advantage with braided lines (buffer effect in the event of a sudden hard jerk).

Alternatives

Other fishing knots, for example clinch knots , bimini twist knots .
