The Großdöllnerhof is a 400-year-old, listed Mühlviertel Dreiseithof in the Mühlviertel Nature Park in the municipality of Rechberg , which is now used as an open-air museum .

The Großdöllnerhof museum and event center is located on Plenkerberg at around 700  m above sea level. A. The building is built using the stone-castle wall technique typical of the Mühlviertel . With this masonry technique, the outer walls are made visible as stone by rough granite blocks and structured by limed mortar zones.

history

The farm, first mentioned in 1629, used to belong to the Windhaag rulership , was farmed as a full-time small farm until 1968 and had 17 hectares of land, of which 8 hectares were forest and 8 hectares were meadows.

The municipality of Rechberg leased the farm in 1968 and made it available as a holiday home for boy scouts and youth groups until 1980 . In 1992 the community acquired the farm and six hectares of land and used the building to set up a farming museum. The area was also available for camps for youth groups.

After a careful and listed renovation from 1994 to 1996, the museum courtyard was accepted into the association of Upper Austrian open-air museums. In 2002 the Großdöllnerhof was the venue for the Upper Austrian provincial exhibition “Celebrations”.

Starting in 2002, the Denkmalhof formed the cultural center for with a sales barn for nature park products and regular opening times, trained nature and landscape guides and museum guides, a permanent exhibition entitled "Folk Medicine and Superstition" and changing special exhibitions, a small kitchen for catering at festivals, etc. the Rechberg Nature Park and the surrounding area and later the Mühlviertel Nature Park.

In 2005 the farm was awarded the Austrian Museum Seal of Approval, in 2007 those responsible for the exhibition received the Folk Culture Prize for Customs and in 2008 the special exhibition “Footprint” was awarded the Environment Prize of the Province of Upper Austria.

The Großdöllnerhof also serves as an event center, where seminars, vernissages and exhibitions take place every year, including the Medieval Hexentreyben, the cultural heurige , the potato festival, the Köhler festival, family wellness days, jazz brunch and the like. a. m.
