The Great Bridge ( French: Grand-Pont ) is one of the three great bridges in Lausanne . It is located in the Center district and crosses the Le Flon district .

history

The bridge was architecturally planned and built between 1839 and 1844 under the supervision of Adrien Pichard . Together with the Tunnel de la Barre , it is considered a key element of the Vaudois capital in the new urban decade.

architecture

Originally the bridge was 180 meters long and 25 meters high. In 1874, however, it was dismantled a little, which caused a monumental change in the cityscape and left the mass at 175 meters long, 15 meters wide and 13 meters high to this day.
