Center ( dt : Zentrum ) is a district of the Swiss city of Lausanne . As the name suggests, it is located in the center of the city.
The district itself is in turn divided into ten quarters . These are Rue Centrale, Chauderon, Le Flon, Montbenon, Gare / Petit-Chêne, Georgette, Avant-Poste, Marterey, Cité and Riponne / Tunnel. In 2018, 12,780 inhabitants lived in an area of 1,243 km² .
location
The district forms the core of the city and is one of the most popular places in the whole city due to the sights and shopping opportunities. The nightlife of Lausanne takes place mainly in the "Le Flon" quarter, which is located here. Center borders ten of the eighteen districts.
Public transportation
All bus lines of the Transports publics de la région Lausannoise cross the district. The train station, which is one of the fulcrum points of the railway in western Switzerland, is also part of the area. The two courses of the Métro Lausanne intersect in "Le Flon" and the Chemin de fer Lausanne-Echallens-Bercher also has its starting point in the latter quarter.

In the district there are many buildings and sights such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral , the Bel Air Tower , the Chauderon Bridge and the Lausanne train station .
