The Große Kelter is a listed building in Oberderdingen , a municipality in Kraichgau , in the northeast of the Karlsruhe Baden-Württemberg district .

history

The large wine press , a farm building from the first half of the 16th century, is located in the Amthof . It was built under Abbot Markus Schön (1506–1529) of the Herrenalb Monastery . In Oberderdingen there was a maintenance office of the Herrenalb monastery, which was only dissolved in 1807. The abbot's coat of arms is attached to the western gate of the building , consisting of an abbot's staff crossed by two arrows . The wine press had five wine press trees.

The building was damaged by a fire in 1693 and restored around 1700. The wine press has been owned by the municipality since 1832, and they expanded the attic into a gymnasium that was used by the school until 1936.

The now modernized wine press has been operated by the Oberderdingen winegrowers' cooperative since the 1970s .
