Big dreams, big houses (Original title: Grand Designs) is a documentary series that has been produced in Great Britain by Talkback Thames for Channel 4 since 1999 .

Each episode features an unusual private building project presented by British designer and author Kevin McCloud .

The German translation of the series was shown on DMAX from September 3, 2006 at irregular intervals on Sunday morning.

So far only seasons 5 to 7 and the spin-off "Abroad" have been broadcast.

All "Revisited" episodes in which a previous project was revisited, however, were not shown, including those projects from Season 5 and "Abroad" that were already shown on DMAX.

The season 7 episode The Birmingham Church was also not shown.

The 11th season will be broadcast on RTL Living from August 26, 2014 under the English original title Grand Designs .

Seasons 11 and 12 (according to the English Wikipedia 13 and 14) are available with German subtitles on Netflix (as of September 30, 2017). In the meantime, seasons 11 to 16 and the summary in season 1 can be called up in German via Amazon Prime or Rtl living. It is not known when the missing seasons 2–10 and the already wacky seasons 17–20 will be available in German. (As of May 2020)
