The Große Funk- und Kommandspanzer 38H (f) was a tank that was converted from Hotchkiss H-35 tanks captured by the German Wehrmacht in France .
history
The main battle tanks captured in France during World War II were often converted and used as artillery and self-propelled guns . Especially for these vehicles stationed in France, the Becker construction command built the large radio and command tanks 38H (f) based on the French Hotchkiss H-35 in 1943 . These vehicles had the task of target observation and fire control of the artillery. For the conversion, the upper part of the hull was removed from the H-35 and replaced by a tank structure that is open at the top. Next were radios , scissors telescopes and other observation means installed. Two rod antennas were placed on the vehicle. The vehicle was only equipped with a 7.92 mm MG for self-protection. The tanks were used in the fighting against Allied troops in 1944. A total of only 24 vehicles of the type Large radio & command tank 38H (f) were built.
