Hans-Georg Gradl

Hans-Georg Gradl (born August 10, 1973 in Eschenbach in the Upper Palatinate ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

He attended the Augustinus-Gymnasium Weiden from 1984 to 1993 . From 1993 to 1995 he studied Catholic theology at the University of Regensburg and from 1995 to 1998 he continued his basic philosophical and theological studies at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana , where he did a licensed course in Biblical theology from 1999 to 2001 . He completed a pastoral year from 1998 to 1999 in the Diocese of Regensburg . In the American National Congregation of Santa Susanna (Rome) he worked from 1999 to 2005 in pastoral care and catechetical work. After completing his doctoral studies (2001-2004) at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana with Johannes Beutler SJ and obtaining a doctorate as Dr. theol. In the summer semester of 2007 he had a teaching position at the Catholic Theol. Faculty of the University of Augsburg . After being ordained a priest in Sant'Ignazio di Loyola in Campo Marzio on October 10, 2000, he was from 2005 to 2009 in pastoral care in the parish of St. Clemens-St. Vinzenz works in Munich . He completed his post-doctoral studies (2007–2012) on the subject: The Revelation of John as a book at the University of Munich with Knut Backhaus , Gerd Häfner and Martin Hose on June 18, 2013 with a habilitation in New Testament exegesis. On October 1, 2009 he was appointed administrator of the chair for Exegesis of the New Testament at the Theological Faculty of Trier , where he has been full professor for Exegesis of the New Testament since July 1, 2013 . From June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2018 he was also director of the Emil Frank Institute at the University of Trier and at the Trier Theological Faculty.

His main research interests are Lucanian double works, early Jewish and early Christian apocalyptic, history and interpretation of the Revelation of John, book and role medium in antiquity and in the Revelation of John. He is a member of the board (comitato di direzione) of the magazine Cristianesimo nella Storia (Bologna), the Association of Catholic New Testament Scholars (AKN) and the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS).
