Florian Schuller (born December 9, 1946 in Augsburg ) is a German Roman Catholic priest . From 2000 to 2018 he was director of the Catholic Academy in Bavaria , which is based in Munich.

Career

Schuller received his education from 1952 to 1957 at the elementary school in front of the Red Gate in Augsburg and from 1957 to 1966 at the Benedictine high school near St. Stephan . After graduating from high school, he went to the Germanicum in Rome as a priesthood candidate , where he studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University . In 1969 he obtained a licentiate in philosophy and in 1974 that in theology. In 1983 he received his doctorate with Zoltan Alszeghy with “magna cum laude” on Fritz Buri's theology .

On 10 October 1973 he was in Rome by Cardinal Julius Döpfner for ordained priests . He was first prefect in the Collegium Germanicum-Hungaricum , then from 1974 to 1976 city chaplain in Penzberg and from 1976 to 1983 pastor in Hofstetten and Hagenheim . After having worked as a diocesan youth pastor for three years, he was student pastor from 1983 to 1999 and from 1988 university pastor at the University of Augsburg and head of the Catholic university community in Augsburg. In addition, he taught at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg . He has been a pastor in Straßberg since 1992 .

In 2000, Schuller took over as director of the Catholic Academy in Bavaria and chaired the Catholic State Working Group for Adult Education in Bavaria (KEB Bavaria). On October 2, 2018, he was officially adopted after 18 years.

Florian Schuller is committed to numerous social projects and the Christians in the Holy Land . In 2009 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master John Patrick Cardinal Foley and invested by Reinhard Marx , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . In 2017 he became prior of the Commandery Munich, succeeding Winfried Haunerland . He is a member of the German Association of the Holy Land .
