Johannes Beutler

Johannes Beutler SJ (born October 3, 1933 in Hamburg ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and emeritus professor of theology of the New Testament and fundamental theology .

Life

Beutler studied Roman Catholic theology and entered the Jesuit order . As a professor of Catholic theology, he worked at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main , at the Pontifical Gregorian University and at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome . He specializes in the Gospel of John and the letters of John .

Beutler is a member of the Bund New Germany and a signatory of the memorandum “ Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening ”.
