Johannes Schelhas

Johannes Schelhas (born December 21, 1961 in Bernburg ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1984 to 1988 he studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophical-Theological Course in the Erfurt seminary and from 1989 to 1990 completed his training in the Huysburg Episcopal Seminary and internships in Halle (Saale) and Magdeburg . After being ordained a priest on June 23, 1990 in Magdeburg, he was vicar in Sangerhausen from 1990 to 1993 . He completed postgraduate studies at the chair for dogmatics and liturgical science from 1993 to 2000 with Michael Schneider SJ at the PTH Sankt Georgen . After completing his doctorate in 2000 at the Philosophical-Theological University of St. Georgen, Frankfurt am Main with a thesis on "Creation and new creation in the theological work of Pavel A. Florenskijs (1882-1937)", he taught from 2000 to 2003 as a lecturer in dogmatics, Fundamental theology and ecumenical theology in the seminar for parish pastoral care in Magdeburg. Since 2003 he has been responsible for the theological training of the permanent deacons in the Magdeburg diocese . From 2003 to 2004 he did a higher education didactic training in the teaching of Catholic theology. From 2004 to 2011 he completed a post-doctoral degree at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn on the subject of "Christocentric Scripture Interpretation by Hans Urs von Balthasar and Karl Barth". From 2009 to 2010 he had a teaching position at the Institute for Catholic Theology of the University of Koblenz-Landau , Campus Koblenz (Chair for Dogmatics and Fundamental Theology), in 2012 a teaching position at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn (Chair for Dogmatics and Theological Propaedeutics ) and 2013 a teaching position at the University of Halle-Wittenberg , Institute for Catholic Theology and its Didactics in Halle (Chair for Systematic Theology / Dogmatics). In 2012, he completed a course in university didactics at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn. He took over the chair for dogmatics and the history of dogma in 2013 as a lecturer and administrator at the theological faculty in Trier, where he was appointed full professor for dogmatics and the history of dogma in 2014 .

His main research interests are theology of the 20th century and the Second Vatican Council ; Sacraments ; Offices of the church; Christian understanding of revelation and scripture ; ecumenical theology - orthodox and Reformation beliefs; philosophical implications of dogmatic theology and belief and doubt.
