The remains of a hill fort at Gut Futterkamp in Blekendorf in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein are known as Großer Schlichtenberg .
The Niederungsburg is oval with a length of about 90 m and a width of 65 m - whereby the interior of the castle has a length of 55 m and a width of about 35 m - and was built on the natural elevation of a moraine ridge in the Mühlenau valley created.
The castle was protected by a surrounding rampart and by ramparts and ditches in the surrounding area. The entrance was in the south. The rampart of the castle is about four meters high, while the other moats and ramparts are only visible in the terrain.
An archaeological investigation in 1975/1976 showed that the castle was built in the 11th century - initially with a weak fortification. The castle was later strengthened and used until the 15th century. The buildings were, as with most of the hill towers (Motte) in Schleswig-Holstein, made of wood. The excavated hall house served as a model for the farm building there during the reconstruction of the Lütjenburg tower hill castle , as did the fountain.
The castle is located in a meadow area and is accessible. The remains of the castle are under monument protection as a ground monument . The Kleine Schlichtenberg is located about 200 meters to the northwest .
