Great stone graves near Barsikow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The megalithic graves near Barsikow were several probably megalithic graves of unknown number from the Neolithic near Barsikow , a district of Wusterhausen / Dosse in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district ( Brandenburg ). They were destroyed during road construction in the 1820s and 1840s.

location

According to Leopold von Ledebur , a grave was removed in 1828/29 northeast of Barsikow, on a sandy elevation south of the Rohrlake. In 1843 this happened a little further west with further graves.

description

The systems are described by Ledebur merely as coherent stone bearings made of flat stone slabs. Hans-Jürgen Beier sees this as an indication of megalithic graves. When the graves were destroyed in order to gain building material for road construction, human bones and ceramic vessels were found in them, some of which were pots and some were shallow bowls. A cultural classification based on this information is not possible.
