Groin is a district of the city of Rees in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1974 Groin was an independent municipality in what was then Rees County .
geography
Groin is located northeast of the Rees core city. In Groin, there are loose buildings on both sides of Groiner Allee and a large part of the commercial area on Empeler Straße and Melatenweg. The former municipality of Groin had an area of 2.9 km².
history
The nucleus of Groin was the Groin House , an old manor . Groin formed a rural community in the mayor's office of Haldern (from 1928 Amt Haldern ) in the Rees district in the Düsseldorf administrative district since the 19th century . From November 1944 to March 23, 1945, there was a notorious forced labor camp on Melatenweg in Groin .
On January 1, 1975, Groin was incorporated into the city of Rees by the Lower Rhine Act .

The local rifle club Rees-Feldmark, Groin and Bergswick is responsible for local customs .
