The Groschew GN-7 ( Russian Грошев ГН-7 ), also G No. 7 (Г № 7) is a Soviet glider developed in the 1930s by G. F. Groschew .
commitment
The GN-7 was mainly used by the OSSOAWIACHIM flying clubs . In May 1937 Viktor Rastorgujew set a national record in free cross-country flight with a GN-7, which he broke twice within a few days. On May 5, he covered a distance of 539.6 km from Tuschino , on May 15, with 602.2 km, he was the first Soviet glider pilot to cross the 600 km mark, which also meant a world record May at 652.0 km. Only two years later could he be hired by Olga Klepikowa .
One specimen came to Hungary during the Second World War , flew there with the registration number HA-4040 and was destroyed in a crash landing. In addition to the GN-7, the designer Groschew also developed two of the first Soviet cargo gliders, the GN-4 and GN-8 .
construction
The GN-7 is a cantilever monoplane in wood construction . The fuselage and the wing center section form a structural composite. The latter is designed to rise upwards, so that it forms a gull wing together with the outer surfaces that are just adjoining it. The tail unit is also self-supporting, with the horizontal stabilizer placed very far in front of the vertical fin. The landing gear consists of a wooden skid under the fuselage and a grinding spur on the stern.
