The Groupement Européen des entreprises et Organismes de Distribution d'Energie ( French , German European Association of Independent Electricity and Gas Distribution Companies ), GEODE for short , is an interest group that represents the interests of independent energy supply companies in Europe through lobbying, among other things .

purpose

The association was founded in 1991. The association is based in Brussels, and has had an office in Berlin since April 2006. In the course of the upcoming liberalization of the energy market, GEODE should guarantee an efficient representation of interests for independent energy supply companies.

Across Europe, over 500 companies are directly and indirectly represented as members of the association through cooperation companies. The association's president is Götz Brühl, the managing director of Stadtwerke Rosenheim .

The main objectives are the commitment to a uniform European energy market with a pluralistic structure, the creation of fair competitive conditions for all market participants, securing the public supply mandate of the independent energy companies and fair framework conditions with market opportunities for small and medium-sized companies as well.

On October 6, 2018, GEODE Deutschland e. V. founded as a national representative.
