The Franconia mine is a former iron mine in the Bensberg ore district in Cologne-Dellbrück .
history
On December 10, 1853, Friedrich Hermanni submitted a request for encouragement to Raseneisenstein under the name Mein Alles . Another request for encouragement dates back to November 26, 1855. The award was made on October 5, 1856 under the new name Franconia on all iron ores occurring . The mine field was in the Cologne city area in Thielenbruch between Gladbacher Straße, Strunder Mühle, Gemarkenstraße and Otto-Kayser-Straße. Nothing is known about the work. The point of discovery was in the so-called “Gänsebruch” at the corner of Thielenbrucher Allee and Bergisch Gladbacher Strasse. There you will find several pings, some of them larger, from opencast mining.
