The Löwenherz mine is a former iron mine in the Bensberg ore district in Forsbach . The point of discovery was in the Königsforst west of the former Forsbach train station.

history

On December 12, 1853, Friedrich Hermanni applied for a mutation of iron ores under the name Rothenburg for a deposit west of the so-called Kalkweg in the Königsforst. For unknown reasons, a second guess followed on January 25, 1854. The award took place under the name Lionheart on August 21, 1856 on iron ore. No further information is available about the operating activities. On September 14, 1892, the Löwenherz union is mentioned as the owner.
