The primary school Alt-Karow is a primary school in the Berlin district of Alt-Karow in the former village center.

history

School extension building

In 1881 there was a school in what is now Alt-Karow, which was expanded to include a second floor in 1907. In 1932 a new school was built at Bahnhofstrasse 32, which was opened two years later. In 1938 the second part of the building and the gymnasium were completed. The school was one of the first Berlin schools to resume classes on June 1, 1945 after the Second World War with around 1,000 students. At the end of the 1950s, a 10-class general polytechnic high school was formed . In 1973 the school was named Ottomar Geschke . After the fall of the Berlin Wall , the Ottomar Geschke polytechnic became a primary school, which in 1995 was renamed the Alt-Karow primary school .

In the past few years the school building and the gymnasium have been renovated and modernized at considerable expense. In addition, the school yard and sports field were redesigned and a school replacement building was built. Between 2005 and 2007 there were further renovations. The school building got a new roof, new windows, escape stairs and a modernized facade . The hallways were also given a new coat of paint.

School grounds

The original school building with over 14 classrooms , a computer room and three dividing rooms is located on the school premises . The modernized sports hall is next to the school building . In the so-called container building, which is known as the white house, there are eight rooms for caring for the children in open all-day operation. Next to the sports field is a small building with two work rooms that is used for handicraft lessons. The low-rise building, which has four rooms, is used for work groups. In the culture house is the food service with kitchen and dining room.
