The Marienwerder Primary School (GSM) in Hanover is a listed school building in the Marienwerder district of Hanover .

history

Built primary school Kwidzyn first as a primary school in the years 1963-1965 by the architect Stefan Schwerdtfeger . With the Kunst am Bau program , the Hanoverian artist Egon Neubauer (1920–1991) provided the back wall of the school building with “constructively abstract” shapes known from a farming village, including a stable and a barn and, for example, stylized, apparently rotating windmill blades.

In 2008 the Marienwerder primary school, which was operated as a single-class school in the second decade of the 21st century , was listed as a historical building .

On the school grounds, the SV Marienwerder sports club was given a building for use as a clubhouse, as well as the use of the sports hall, which was set up for supplementary support measures. The sanitary areas of the sports hall were planned for renovation in 2011.

For the 2012/2013 school year, the GSM was converted into an open all-day school. In 2017 around 100 students from ten nations attended the primary school in Marienwerder.
