The Grundtvig Dolmen ( Danish Grundtvigsdyssen - also called Borup Ris or Rejnstrup Langdysse 3 or Gunderslevholmdyssen ) is an ancient dolmen in a barren bed , the shape of which deviates from the norm. It is located on Rejnstrupvej, in the parish ( Danish : Sogn ) Gunderslev, south of the Bavelse Sø (lake) in the forest of Gunderslevholm on the Danish island of Zealand . The prehistoric monument is one between 3500 and 2800 BC. Megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK) that was created in BC .

description

The Urdolmen lies in an approximately 55 m long and seven meter wide barren bed , the curbs of which have largely been preserved. The narrow ends of the giant bed are strongly rounded. In the middle there are two guard stones , which are usually and on old sketches outside the ends. The megalithic bed was covered with a layer of large stones, many of which can still be found within the enclosure. The chamber is axially (parallel), but off-center. Two particularly long and two very short bearing stones form the long, narrow chamber on which a large, irregularly round, protruding capstone lies. The facility was restored in 2008.

Research history

In 1808 the literary historian Christian Molbech (1783–1857) and the theologian Nikolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig (1783–1872) came to the megalithic complex . With their help, the dolmen succeeded in placing the dolmen under monument protection as one of the first prehistoric monuments in Denmark . At this time, interest in Danish prehistory awoke. As early as 1807, on the initiative of Rasmus Nyerup (1779–1829) , Crown Prince Friedrich had appointed a commission for antiquities ( Den Kongelige Commission til Oldsagers Opbevaring ) to protect the archaeological traces of the Danish past.
