Andreas Coerdt (born January 31, 1916 in Düsseldorf ; † June 21, 2006 in Schönberg (Holstein) ) was a German officer , most recently Major General of the Air Force of the Bundeswehr .

Life

Coerdt was born in Düsseldorf as the first of three children. His father, Wilhelm Coerdt, had an accident while working as a reserve engine driver in 1926. He spent most of his primary school in Stocklarn / Welver, his father's home. From 1926 to 1935 he attended the Goethe-Oberrealschule in Düsseldorf and passed his Abitur there. In 1940 he married Charlotte Biermann and they have four children.

Education and Pre-War

From November 1935 he completed his training as a troop leader in the Reich Labor Service . From 1936 to 1938 he fulfilled his active duty in the Wehrmacht. Subsequently (1939) he enrolled at the TH Darmstadt, specializing in "general mechanical engineering".

Second World War

From August 1939 to April 30, 1943 he was a platoon leader, exploratory officer. (Strasbourg / West Prussia, on the Eastern Front: Smolensk, Kalinin), battery chief (light flak), group leader for experiments and regulations (anti-aircraft gun school Rerik II). From March 1945 company commander in the Bauer combat unit (Lauenburg-Bleckede-Boizenburg). From April 30 to November 9, 1945 he was an American prisoner of war ( Büderich am Rhein and Attichy near Compiègne ). Awards: German Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen, EK II, EK I, Ostmedaille, combat badge of the anti-aircraft cartillery, ground combat badge of the air force, KVK II with swords, KVK I with swords.

Post-war period and armed forces

Until joining the Bundeswehr in 1956, Coerdt worked in the construction industry. After attending evening school at the building school of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg, he worked as a site manager and calculator for a Hamburg construction company. His service with the Bundeswehr began as a captain at the anti-aircraft school in Rendsburg (lecture hall director, shooting officer, teaching staff officer). In 1961 he became battalion commander of the anti-aircraft test group in Hamburg-Iserbrook. In 1963 he became a department head in the Air Force Office and in 1964 he became a consultant for the Federal Ministry of Defense. From 1965 to 1967 he was group leader of the Luftwaffe flight formations. In 1968 and 1969 he was commander of the Air Force Missile School in Fort Bliss, Texas (German Air Defense School). It followed: 1970 stage manager missile associations of the air force (ground-air) and head of the stage manager group air force. From April 1971 to 1974 Coerdt was commander of the 4th Air Force Division in Aurich / East Friesland. At the end of 1974, Major General Coerdt resigned from the Bundeswehr and until the end of 1979 headed the NATO-HAWK Management Office in Paris as General Manager.
