Basic weir

Schematic representation of a basic weir

The basic weir is one of the fixed weirs . The base weir is completely covered by water in the channel . The weir crown of a basic weir does not extend above the surface of the upper or the lower water. If the weir crown reaches over one of these borders, one speaks of an attack weir . Basic weirs are created when the amount of water in the river does not change much and the damming to be created should not be large. A base weir can also form the substructure for a movable weir.
