Group 7

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Group 7 was a 1968 artist association, founded around the Saarland painter Aloys Ohlmann . Other artist groups with this name existed independently in Franconia around Heinz Altschäffel and in Munich.

history

The Saarland group consisted of politically committed artists. It was founded by Ohlmann, Paul Antonius, Heinz Diesel, Seiji Kimoto , Albert Haberer and Axel Büttner and named after the house number of Aloys Ohlmann's father house, Akazienweg No. 7 and the artist gallery house “Marktstraße No. 7”, the first meeting point of the Artist group. In addition to the political commitment that was shared, the group also tried to support each other in organizing exhibitions. The group expanded, at times including the photographer Hanne Garthe and the collage artist Annegret Soltau .
