Gruppo Sportivo is a Dutch band formed in 1976 that gained greater popularity mainly in the late 1970s as early representatives of the New Wave .
history
In Germany, the band is best known for their occasional strong presence at music festivals . Only the song Happily unemployed from their 1982 album Design Moderne achieved chart success. In the same year they appeared in the WDR Rockpalast . In the USA and England they had a respectable success with the song Beep Beep Love from the album 10 Mistakes . After the first two LPs, 10 Mistakes and Back to 78 (the latter reached number 3 in the Dutch charts ), success ebbed; however, further studio albums (accompanied by a number of compilations) were produced until 2006. The often very ironic lyrics are remarkable ( e.g. Tokyo on the album Back to 78 ; Happily Unemployed and Mein geilstes Lied , both on Design Moderne ), accompanied by catchy pop music .
