Grzegorz Michał Braun (born March 11, 1967 in Toruń ) is a Polish director, screenwriter, publicist and politician.

Life

Grzegorz Braun is the son of the director Kazimierz Braun. His siblings Monika and Justyna are actresses.

Since 1987 he has been a co-organizer of the Orange Alternative ( Pomarańczowa Alternatywa ), for which he suffered repression during the time of the People's Republic of Poland . In 1988 and 1989 he took part in student protests at the University of Wroclaw. From 1990 to 1994 he wrote for the quarterly Fronda .

In 2005 Braun published a documentary about the collaboration between Solidarność leader and later President of Poland Lech Wałęsa and the Communist Secret Service of the People's Republic of Poland (PRL) - Służba Bezpieczeństwa (SB).

Since 2007 he has been giving lectures on journalism in Wroclaw.

He has been married since 2014 and has two children.

In May 2015 he ran for the presidential election in Poland and received 0.83% of the vote.

Controversy

On September 10, 2012, Grzegorz Braun publicly stated that every tenth journalist from Gazeta Wyborcza and the private broadcaster TVN should be shot and, in addition to a Catholic education, be taught how to use firearms. In this context, the Warsaw Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into suspected incitement to a criminal offense. On April 16, 2013, the investigation was closed due to lack of evidence.
