Grzegorz Wiśniewski

Grzegorz Krzysztof Wiśniewski (born April 22, 1952 in Olsztyn , Poland ) is a Polish brigadier general and diplomat.

Career

Wiśniewski graduated from the Technical Military Academy (Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna) in 1976 and received his doctorate in military science from the Akademia Sztabu Generalnego in 1981. He became the youngest assistant professor at the academy.

In 1975 Wiśniewski was promoted to Podporutschik , in 1982 to captain, 1986 to major, 1987 to lieutenant colonel, and in 1992 to colonel. On August 15, 2001, he was appointed Brigadier General.

In 1989 Wiśniewski was an observer in the UN mediation mission in Iraq , from where he was evacuated before the outbreak of war . He later served on the Sixteenth Board of Directors of the General Staff, which became the Military Foreign Affairs Division of the Ministry of National Defense. From 1992 he worked as a lawyer at the Polish Embassy in Brussels , after which he was Deputy Director of the Department in the Ministry of Defense, Lawyer in Permanent Representation to NATO and, since 2002, Director of Academic Planning and Policy at the NATO Defense Academy in Rome . In 2006 he was the representative of the Minister of Defense and from 2007 he was Defense Attaché at the Polish Embassy in Moscow .

From May 6, 2011 to June 26, 2013, Wiśniewski was the Polish ambassador to Jakarta , with responsibility for Indonesia , East Timor and ASEAN .
