The Guadalupe Peak (partly also listed as Signal Peak ) is with 2667 m the highest mountain in Texas and the Guadalupe Mountains of the same name .
location
It is located in Guadalupe Mountains National Park on the border of southeastern New Mexico and western Texas. The mountain is about 140 km east of El Paso and about 80 km southwest of Carlsbad in New Mexico. There are no shelters on the mountain, the only hut in the area is the visitor center , which does not provide any overnight accommodation. The ascent can either be done in one day, or you can spend the night in tents that you have brought with you. The summit can also be reached from a parking lot on a circular hiking trail.
The Mescalero Apaches consider it one of four sacred mountains.
