Gualberto do Rosario

António Gualberto do Rosário (born October 12, 1950 ) was Prime Minister of Cape Verde from 2000 to 2001 .

Political career

He was trained in Portugal. After the resignation of Carlos Veiga on July 29, 2000, who wanted to run for the office of president, he became head of government on October 5, 2000. He was previously Minister of Agriculture and later Veiga's deputy. Like his predecessor, he belongs to the Movimento para a Democracia (MpD) party, which has ruled the country since the introduction of democracy in 1991.

In the parliamentary elections on January 14, 2001, the former unity party Partido Africano para a Independência de Cabo Verde (PAICV) won and its chairman José Maria Neves became the new Prime Minister on February 1, 2001. In August 2001 he resigned as head of the MpD.
