Guido Henn (born July 6, 1970 in Sobernheim ) is a German conductor , composer and arranger . He is the founder of the Guido Henn band and his golden brass band .

Life

Guido Henn began his musical career at the age of ten on the clarinet . At the age of 16 he wrote his first composition. From 1990 to 1993 he studied orchestral music at the Musikhochschule Düsseldorf in the subjects clarinet and piano with Kindermann. Since 1994 Henn has been concertmaster and solo clarinetist with the Air Force Music Corps 2 Karlsruhe. In the meantime, Guido Henn has written over 100 compositions. Henn also gives workshops in bohemian brass music. In 1991 Guido Henn founded HeBu Musikverlag with Christian Buss . In 1999 Henn left the publishing house due to his work as a professional musician.

In addition to his own compositions, Guido Henn works with other contemporary composers of Bohemian music. Guido Henn's lead over competitors is to find and motivate new, talented authors of Bohemian brass music. So his productions contain u. a. Works by Marc Sven Heidt (especially concert waltzes like “Maly dárek”), Michael Kuhn (top class polkas like “Zum Weinen Schön”) and by Thomas G. Greiner. Greiner has been working with Guido Henn since 2002 and contributes symphonic polkas of the high level of difficulty (e.g. "Raphael Polka") to the repertoire.

In 2012 Guido Henn completed the project “Henn's Bohemian Talent Factory”. His particular merit is to introduce interested young musicians to the special articulation and interpretation of Bohemian brass music in a contemporary way. The project ended with a concert of sophisticated polkas, waltzes and marches.

Compositions (excerpt)

Guido Henn's own compositions are characterized by elegant melodies, flowing changes between major and minor, catchiness (e.g. "Forget-Me-Not") or particularly romantic melodies and atmosphere (e.g. "Polka romantica"), occasionally with musical quotations (e.g. “All birds are already there” in the coda of “Vöglein flieg” or the beginning of the Italian national anthem at the beginning and end of the “World Champion Polka”). His marches often contain characterful passages in a minor key, and they often end in a minor key with Hungarian echoes. Guido Henn's soloist titles include demanding solo pieces for numerous instruments (including instruments such as the bass trombone).
