Guillem Scrotes , English William Scrots and William Scrotes , also William Stretes (* before 1537, † 1553 in England ) was a Flemish painter .

Life

Scrotes was appointed painter to the regent of the Netherlands , Mary of Castile , in 1537 . He painted the portraits of Emperor Charles V and his family and was in the service of King Henry VIII of England in 1546. Several portraits of English nobles are attributed to him, all of which are in the elegant Italian style.
