The volcano mountain is about three kilometers high and 276 kilometers wide. It is located 21 ° 54 ′  N , 0 ° 54 ′  W Coordinates: 21 ° 54 ′  N , 0 ° 54 ′  W in the west of the Eistla Regio highlands . To the west of it is the smaller volcano Sif Mons . From Gula Mons, the Lineamente Guor Linea extend southeast towards the Sappho Patera volcano , at the other end of the elongated Eistla Regio.

Like Maat Mons, the Gula Mons is similar to the shield volcanoes in Hawaii . Eruptions have never been observed on Venus.
