Gundel pancakes (original Gundel palacsinta) are a Hungarian dessert named after its inventor Karl Gundel (1883–1956). They are on the menu in many Hungarian restaurants, including the Budapest restaurant Gundel , where they were invented. You are among the most famous representatives of Hungarian cuisine .

preparation

The Gundel pancakes are filled with a nut-rum-raisin filling and poured with a chocolate-rum sauce. In some restaurants, the Gundel pancakes are flambéed in front of the guests, which does not correspond to the original Karl Gundel recipe, but rather a tourist attraction.

Regional differences

The Austrian cuisine also has this pastry in her repertoire included. In Austria, this type of pancake is sometimes also offered as "chocolate-nut pancakes" or "nut pancakes". Whipped cream is usually served with it, the filling sometimes contains no raisins, but cinnamon. In the Hotel Sacher , Gundel pancakes are served according to the original recipe by Karl Gundel, garnished with caramelized walnuts . These pancakes are also known in Slovakia .
