Gunhild Liljequist (born March 21, 1936 ) is a German designer who designed numerous special models for Volkswagen .

Life

Gunhild Liljequist, whose mother was a hat maker , studied porcelain painting . She first designed candy jars for the then chocolatier Sarotti , before she became the first woman to move to the "Colors and Fabrics Department" at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg in 1964 . She then spent 27 years designing paint tones, interiors and accessories for series and special models from Volkswagen, including many well-known models such as the Golf Cabriolet Etienne Aigner , the Jeans Polo or the Velvet Red Beetle . Among other things, she also invented the gear knob in the shape of a golf ball for the Golf GTI . From 1982 to 1985 she was part of the "Team for Beetle Action Models" in Wolfsburg, which was responsible for the design and coordination of the production of the Beetle special models for the German and European market. In 1991 she retired and has since devoted herself increasingly to painting and object design.
