Gunhild Seim
Gunhild Seim (born June 4, 1973 in Gjøvik ) is a Norwegian jazz and improvisation musician ( trumpet , composition ).
Live and act
With her band Time Jungle (Arild Hoem, saxophone, John Lilja, double bass, and Dag Magnus Narvesen, drums) she has released albums since 2007 and toured Norway, Sweden, Great Britain and Germany. As part of the large-format improvisation ensemble Kitchen Orchestra , with which she has recorded several records since 2010, she toured internationally and also performed at the Superdeluxe in Tokyo, a center for experimental music, performance and art. In 2013 she released her sextet album Story Water , which received critical acclaim. She also worked with John Lilja in the duo Chattermack , with Marilyn Crispell and David Rothenberg she plays in the trio ( Grenseland 2018). As an interpreter she worked under the direction of Alexander von Schlippenbach , Evan Parker , Geir Lysne and Nils Henrik Asheim . She can also be heard on albums by Karianne Arntzen, Katya Sourikova, Elin Furubotn, Tore Meberg and Britt-Synnøve Johansen.
Her compositions have been performed by artists such as Marilyn Crispell, Trym Bjønnes and the Kitchen Orchestra, Banff Jazz Orchestra and the Norwegian Wind Ensemble . Composition commissions came from Vossajazz and the Stavanger Jazzforum.
