Gunnar Vorteilmann

Gunnar Vorteilmann (* 1951 in Bergen on Rügen ) is a German hydrologist and university professor.

Gunnar Nutzmann studied mathematics in Rostock with Lothar Berg and Gerhard Maeß and graduated in 1973 with a diploma. He then worked for five years as a research assistant in the computing center of the Research Center for Soil Fertility in Müncheberg . From 1978 to 1981 he was a doctoral student in the hydromelioration / hydraulic engineering department of this facility.

After completing his doctorate, Nutzmann went to the Institute for Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR as a research assistant . From 1986 to 1991 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Geography and Geoecology of the Academy with Peter Mauersberger . Afterwards, he became a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin and was given a teaching position at the Technical University of Berlin on the modeling of flow and transport processes in seepage and groundwater.

In 1998 he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Berlin in the subject of hydrology / groundwater hydrology. He then held lectures on hydrology in the subject of water management as a private lecturer. Since 2002 he has been Professor of Hydrology at the Geographical Institute of the Humboldt University in Berlin and Head of the Ecohydrology Department at the IGB.
