Gunter Mackinger

Gunter Mackinger (born September 29, 1956 ) is an Austrian author of railway-related non-fiction books . He is a court expert for railways and cable cars. Mackinger was the traffic director of Salzburg AG and from August 1, 2014 to October 31, 2014 its strategic traffic director.

Life

Gunter Mackinger finished his school career with the Matura and then did his military service in the armed forces. He then took on a job as a shifter and then worked his way up to a conductor , train driver and dispatcher . Gradually, he also took on administrative tasks. In 2000, Mackinger was appointed operations manager of the Salzburg local railway division . In 2003 he also became director of the StadtBus Salzburg . Three years later he took over the management of the Salzkammergutbahn GmbH together with the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt and the rack railway to the Schafberg .

From 1999 to 2004 Mackinger was a member of the Salzburg municipal council for the SPÖ .

In 2010 he was finally appointed managing director of Berchtesgadener Landbahn GmbH . From August 1, 2014, he was only strategic traffic director, without any further definition of tasks. On October 31, 2014, Gunter Mackinger left Salzburg AG - he went into the passive phase of partial retirement, which resulted from an out-of-court settlement with Salzburg AG.

Mackinger has been working as a consultant for light rail and trolleybus systems at the ASS experts based in Bad Dürrnberg near Salzburg since November 2014. Mackinger is appointed as a court sworn expert for the railway sector.

Honors

In 2009 he was awarded the Great Merit of the State of Salzburg for his services to local public transport in Salzburg. In 2011 he was awarded the PRO BAHN passenger award for his services to the reconstruction of the Pinzgauer local railway .
