features

The Oman anemonefish grows to a length of 10.5 to 14 centimeters. The length is 1.9 to 2.1 times the body height. It is medium to dark brown in color. A white horizontal stripe runs directly behind the eye over the head, another, which is about 1 12 to 4 scales widths narrow, runs from the indentation between the spiked and the soft rayed part of the dorsal fin to in front of the anal fin . The horizontal stripe over the head is constricted or not grown together on the forehead, the horizontal stripe in the middle of the body does not extend to the dorsal fin. The pectoral fins are yellow, the ventral and anal fins are blackish, the caudal fin is blackish in juvenile fish and whitish or yellowish brown in adult fish. The outer fin rays of the caudal fin are long drawn out in older fish. This feature is unique among the anemonefish. Otherwise, only the Madagascar anemonefish ( Amphiprion latifasciatus ) has a slightly forked caudal fin.

The dorsal fin of the Oman anemonefish has ten hard and 16 to 17 soft rays, the anal fin has two hard and 14 to 15 soft rays. The pectoral fins are supported by 19 to 20 fin rays. There are 16 to 19 gill trap processes on the first gill arch . The sideline is accompanied by 36 to 42 scales.
