Gunter Mlynski

Gunter Mlynski (born September 28, 1940 in Berlin ) is the founder of rhinoresistometry , an objective type of measurement for assessing nasal breathing obstruction.

After studying at the ENT University Clinic of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 1968 to 1973 , he received his doctorate there in 1979 and obtained his habilitation in 1985 . After working as a ward physician and as a senior physician at the Jena Polyclinic, he moved to the ENT clinic at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald in 1987, where he was senior physician and later senior physician until he retired in 2005. From 1990 up to and including 2006 he organized the Greifswald nasal surgery course on "Functional-aesthetic surgery of the nose", which is the most traditional surgical course in Europe for corrections of the inner and outer nose.

By leading the working group "Respiratory function of the nose" first in the GDR, then also within the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, he shaped the functional orientation of rhinology and received the Ludwig- Haymann Medal .

Gunter Mlynski also conducted several nose surgery courses in Tbilisi ( Georgia ) for further training of ENT colleagues and received the title of honorary professor for his special services from the Tbilisi State Medical Academy after more than twenty years of solidarity.

Gunter Mlynski also gained fame as a jazz trombonist. He is currently a member of the Alexander Blume Jazz Family . Volunteering works Mlynski as CEO in Förderverein Schloss Stolpe e. V.
