Gunter von Minckwitz (born September 8, 1964 in Darmstadt ) is a German gynecologist and obstetrician who specializes in the treatment and research of breast cancer .

career

Gunter von Minckwitz studied human medicine at the University of Heidelberg from 1983 to 1990 and received his doctorate there in 1991. He completed his years as an assistant doctor from 1990 to 1995 in the gynecological clinic there and from 1995 to 1998 in the university gynecological clinic in Frankfurt am Main . In 1997 he completed his specialist training there and worked there from 1998 to 2008 as senior physician and department head of the study center and the breast clinic. In 2001 he presented his habilitation thesis on the subject of “Preoperative systemic treatment of primary, operable breast cancer with anthracyclines and taxanes ”. From 2003 to 2009 he worked there as a senior oncological doctor part-time. Since 2003 he has been head of the German Breast Group (GBG) and managing director of GBG Forschungs GmbH , a research facility for the implementation of clinical studies for the treatment of breast cancer. Since 2009, Professor von Minckwitz has been advisor in senological oncology at the Breast Center in the Luisenkrankenhaus Düsseldorf. He is a member of the Mamma Commission of the Gynecological Oncology Working Group.

Publications

Professor von Minckwitz has over 225 medline-cited publications a. a. Published in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet and The Lancet Oncology, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, authored more than 240 reviews and book chapters, and 19 books. Furthermore, 414 of his abstracts have been published so far.
