Gunther von Pairis
The Cistercian monk Gunther von Pairis (* around 1150, † around 1220) is best known for his work Hystoria Constantinopolitana about the conquest of Constantinople in the fourth crusade . It goes back to the reports of Abbot Martin von Pairis , who was one of the participants.
But he is also considered the author of Ligurinus , an epic written in hexameters with a panegyric description of the struggles of Frederick Barbarossa against the northern Italian cities. For this work he is said to have been crowned poeta laureatus by Friedrich I.
