The GuruPlug is a compact , low-power plug-in computer that comes with a Debian- based Linux system. It is offered by Globalscale Technologies as a device that can act as a web server , print server or server for any other network service. It has an internal memory in the form of NAND flash , but also offers the storage of data via external interfaces such as USB and microSD .

The first generation of these devices had no internal moving parts such as fans or drives, which made the device work almost silently. Due to a design error, however, this generation often resulted in temperature-related shutdowns. The problem was solved by installing a fan, but this greatly reduced its attractiveness as a quiet living room server.
