Gustav Adolf Church (Recklinghausen)
The Gustav Adolf Church , named after the former Swedish King Gustav Adolf II , is a Protestant church building in Recklinghausen . It is located near the cattle gate, just south of the city center in the Paulusviertel .
The church was built in 1847 in the Prussian-Classicist style and is the oldest Protestant church building in the Catholic Vest Recklinghausen . In 1878 the small roof turret was replaced by the addition of today's bell tower; it houses 9 bells. In the mid-1880s, the church was expanded to include the west choir.
The three stained glass windows in the apse were created by Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen .
