Gustav Behre

Gustav Behre (born September 1, 1903 in Dalhausen , † 1973 in Beverungen ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Live and act

Behre studied 1924/25 at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf and from 1925 to 1928 at the vocational education institute in Cologne at the Cologne factory schools . This was followed by teaching activities at the crafts schools in Düsseldorf and Limburg / Lahn, as well as study trips to France, Italy and Denmark.

Behre specialized in the landscape painting of his East Westphalian homeland, the Rhineland, the Taunus and the Chiemsee, mostly with a dramatic nature staging ("Weser landscape with withdrawing thunderstorm" and "After the storm"). In addition, still lifes and city pictures were created.

Works

The art collection of the city of Limburg includes: "Alte Fahrgasse Limburg", "Limburg", "Summer day in the mountains", "Still life - autumn bouquet" and "Summer landscape".
